SENIOR U.S. TAX PREPARER (DRAKE TAX) AND AI FIRST FINANCIAL CONTROLLER

Full time | Remote in Vietnam or the Philippines | Minimum 4 hours daily overlap with Vietnam time (UTC+7)

Savvy | Finance operations supporting multiple U.S. businesses

THE OPPORTUNITY

Are you genuinely experienced in preparing U.S. business tax returns in Drake Tax, confident running a U.S. month end close, and ambitious about using AI to make financial operations better? This is a rare opportunity to own both the numbers and the systems behind them.

We are seeking an experienced, hands on professional to support a portfolio of U.S. ecommerce, technology and marketing businesses. You will deliver accurate financial reporting, prepare business tax returns for professional review, identify problems before they grow, and build practical AI assisted workflows. You will work closely with business leadership and be judged on results, not activity.

This is a senior execution role, not a general bookkeeping or data entry position. Actual Drake Tax experience is essential.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN

U.S. business tax preparation | Drake Tax

• Prepare federal business returns in Drake Tax, including Forms 1120, 1120S and 1065 as appropriate to your experience and assigned entities, with related schedules and K1s.
• Build reviewer ready tax workpapers from source records, trial balances and reconciliations. Identify book to tax differences, depreciation issues, missing records and unusual transactions.
• Resolve Drake diagnostics, maintain an accurate return status tracker, and prepare complete packages for final review and authorized filing.
• Support federal and state filing calendars, 1099 reporting, sales tax and other tax schedules as assigned. Coordinate complex or international reporting with the designated U.S. tax adviser.

Financial controller | U.S. accounting

• Own the accounting close for multiple U.S. entities, including bank and card reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, deferred revenue and intercompany balances.
• Deliver an accurate monthly close package by the tenth day of the following month, including profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow, major reconciliations, and a concise variance and exceptions report.
• Reconcile sales, payment processor settlements, merchant fees, refunds, receivables and marketing expenses to the general ledger. Experience with PayPal, Stripe, NMI, Meta or Google is valuable.
• Maintain clear accounting policies, a close checklist, supporting schedules, a cash visibility report and a reliable audit trail. Escalate risks early.

AI first finance operations

• Use approved AI and automation tools to accelerate document extraction, categorization, reconciliation checks, financial analysis and draft reporting.
• Create repeatable prompts, controls and workflows that reduce manual work without reducing accuracy or accountability.
• Verify every material output against original records. Never enter confidential taxpayer information, financial credentials or client records into unapproved AI services.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

Within your first 90 days, you will understand the assigned entities, establish a documented close and tax calendar, deliver reliable reconciled monthly reporting, prepare Drake tax workpapers to review standard, and demonstrate at least one measurable improvement to a finance workflow using appropriately controlled AI.

NONNEGOTIABLE QUALIFICATIONS

• At least two U.S. tax filing seasons personally preparing U.S. business returns in Drake Tax. You must be able to identify the filing years, return types, approximate volumes and work you personally completed. Experience using only other tax software does not qualify.
• At least three years of hands on U.S. accounting experience, including reconciliations, journal entries, financial statements and month end close.
• An active and valid IRS Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN), maintained for the periods in which it is required. Verification will occur privately during hiring; do not include your PTIN number in the application.
• Strong working experience in QuickBooks Online or Xero, plus advanced Excel or Google Sheets for financial analysis and reconciliations.
• Real examples of using AI or automation responsibly in accounting, tax or financial reporting, including how you checked results for accuracy.
• Clear written and spoken English, sound judgment, reliable execution, and the ability to explain discrepancies without being prompted.
• Residence in Vietnam or the Philippines, a secure remote working environment, and at least four hours of consistent daily overlap with Vietnam working hours (UTC+7).

EXPERIENCE THAT WILL SET YOU APART

• Enrolled Agent or CPA qualification, with active credentials where applicable.
• Multi entity U.S. accounting, ecommerce, payment processing or performance marketing finance.
• Strong command of book to tax reconciliations, S corporation and partnership schedules, and state business tax compliance.
• Experience supporting international U.S. reporting, including Forms 5471 or 5472, under specialist supervision.
• A demonstrated record of shortening close cycles, building useful finance automations, and communicating directly with management.

WHY JOIN

You will own meaningful work across real U.S. businesses, have direct visibility into business decisions, and help shape an AI enabled finance function rather than simply maintain yesterday's processes. The role is full time and remote. Compensation will reflect verified skills and experience, and applicants should state their expected monthly amount in USD.

HOW TO APPLY

Apply through our BambooHR posting with your resume and brief, specific answers to the questions below. A generic cover letter is not required. We value demonstrated competence more than polished claims.

Required application questions | Free text

3. Describe the most demanding U.S. month end close you personally managed: number of entities, accounting software, key reconciliations, reporting deadline and one problem you solved.
4. Is your PTIN current for 2026, and what is your plan for the next filing season? Describe its status only, without providing the number.
5. Describe a real AI or automation workflow you used in finance or tax work, the result achieved, how you independently verified accuracy, and how you protected confidential data.
6. Which accounting platforms and spreadsheet functions do you use regularly? Give one practical reconciliation or reporting example.
7. State your country of residence, the exact hours you can work in Vietnam time, earliest start date, and expected monthly compensation in USD.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a paid practical assessment using fictional financial and tax records. We will assess real Drake competence, U.S. accounting judgment, accuracy, confidentiality and communication.

Do not upload real tax returns, taxpayer names, Social Security numbers, employer identification numbers, account details or PTIN numbers. We will never request confidential client records at the application stage.
