CAD Intern - TWB Monroe at Worthington Steel in Monroe, MI

Summary: Worthington Steel is a leading metals processor and manufacturer, and they are seeking a CAD Intern for the summer session. The role involves gaining hands-on experience by completing CAD projects and collaborating with experienced professionals in a manufacturing environment. Responsibilities: - Build an inventory floor plan for the Supply Chain team - Prepare a variety of detail drawings, usually from completed engineering sketches or layouts - Determine the best method of material processing of blanks, e.g. dimpling or post weld press operations - Use computer aided drafting techniques to perform applicable detailing work as well as standard and some specialized drafting tools and equipment - Make layout drawings, assist in preparing parts lists, and perform other duties as required Required Qualifications: - Major in a field that utilizes CAD - Basic knowledge and experience with PCs and MS Windows - Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) - Mechanical aptitude and ability to compute complex and highly statistical specifications - Thorough working knowledge of CAD or design related software(s) - Active listener able to receive and follow detailed instructions - Comfortable learning new systems and processes Preferred Qualifications: - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization - Takes initiative and is driven to identify opportunities for improvement - Ability to work in a team environment Required Skills: CAD Important Skills: Microsoft Office, Mechanical aptitude Benefits: Competitive compensation package
