Job Description
Summary: Worthington Enterprises is a designer and manufacturer of market-leading brands that help improve everyday life. They are seeking a highly motivated Industrial Applications Developer Intern to join their Smart Factory team for the Summer 2026 internship program, where interns will design and build software solutions that connect manufacturing equipment with enterprise platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and enhance industrial applications, integrations, and dashboards
- Design and support data integrations between plant-floor systems and enterprise platforms
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and continuous improvement teams to translate operational needs into technical solutions
- Apply software development best practices, including version control, testing, and documentation
Required Qualifications:
- Junior or senior pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Demonstrated experience developing in Python
- Strong interest in manufacturing and applying software to improve operational processes
- Foundational knowledge of databases (SQL), data modeling, and system integration concepts
- Exposure to AI or machine learning concepts and interest in applying data-driven methods to industrial challenges
- Strong analytical skills, ownership mindset, and ability to work effectively in both office and plant environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to industrial systems, PLCs, SCADA/MES platforms, or manufacturing data environments
- Experience building dashboards, data visualizations, or internal tools
- Understanding of basic networking and cybersecurity principles within operational environments
- Participation in engineering design teams, robotics clubs, hackathons, or hands-on technical projects
