Internship - Materials Engineering at Woodward, Inc. in Windsor, CO

This internship offers students the opportunity to gain exposure to the Aerospace and Energy Industry, providing hands-on experience while working on challenging projects and networking with professionals. Responsibilities: - Support the Materials and Surface Engineering lab’s requests with sample preparation, hardness testing, and microstructure analysis - Assist materials engineers in evaluating coatings and material properties of various materials and heat treatments - Characterize materials for new product introduction projects using X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), nano hardness indentation, and microstructure analysis - Perform high-temperature fatigue testing of additive manufactured materials and document the fatigue data in written reports and databases - Conduct failure analysis of both internal and external component failures to identify root cause of failure. Use scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) to perform the analysis and write failure analysis reports to document the findings Required Qualifications: - Must be at least a sophomore in an accredited College or University program and have an acceptable grade point average - Effective written and verbal communication skills - Competent skills in problem solving and trouble-shooting - Competent in the use of PCs, MS Office Programs and other associated software - Ability to effectively operate in a team environment - Effective time management skills - Solid knowledge of the English language with the ability to speak, read and write along with good listening skills - This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
