Job Description
Summary: Withum is a forward-thinking, technology-driven advisory and accounting firm that helps clients be in a position of strength in today’s business landscape. The AI Solutions Intern will design and implement custom AI agents and automation programs to streamline workflows and support financial modeling efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build and optimize custom machine‑learning models and AI agents for internal use
- Integrate AI into Microsoft Office tools by testing and evaluating Copilot functionalities within Excel and Word to identify productivity and automation opportunities
- Write scripts and code to deploy and tune AI applications, including Excel and Word add‑ins
- Prepare and clean datasets to improve model performance
- Analyze data to extract insights for AI model development and assist in building and refining financial models, forecasts and budgets in Excel
- Collaborate with finance teams to apply AI techniques to financial modeling and analytics. Use advanced Excel formulas and financial modeling best practices to support investment or budgeting decisions
- Conduct research on current AI trends, including prompt engineering for Copilot and other AI‑based Office features, workflow optimization and document summarization
- Evaluate off‑the‑shelf AI tools and agent frameworks (e.g., Copilot Studio, LangChain) and recommend technologies for internal adoption
- Assist in testing and evaluating AI models to ensure they function as expected and address any issues or inaccuracies
- Document experiments, model development processes and results for future reference
- Contribute to training materials, demos and internal guides to promote AI fluency and responsible use of generative AI tools
- Work closely with engineers, data scientists, finance professionals and other stakeholders to integrate AI solutions into existing workflows
- Present findings and prototypes to the team and gather feedback to iterate on solutions
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a degree program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering or a related field
- Proficiency in Python (or similar) and familiarity with AI/ML libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch or Scikit‑learn
- Strong understanding of statistics and linear algebra
- Experience with data preprocessing and manipulation (Pandas/Numpy)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word; familiarity with scripting or macros in these applications and generative AI tools like Microsoft Copilot
- Ability to build and interpret financial models; knowledge of forecasting, budgeting and sensitivity analysis techniques
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking skills; effective communication and collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Hands‑on experience integrating AI capabilities into Office applications (e.g., Copilot Studio, add‑ins or macros)
- Familiarity with financial modeling software or coursework, and experience using AI to automate modeling tasks
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), version control (Git) and advanced Excel features such as Power Query, pivot tables and data visualization
