Senior PHP Developer – Laravel & Yii2

Job Summary

As a Senior Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing high-quality software applications. You will be responsible for delivering robust and scalable solutions using PHP, Laravel, and Yii2, while providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on development experience, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a solid understanding of software development best practices. You will work closely with the development team, project managers, and other stakeholders to deliver reliable, secure, and high-performing applications.

Key Responsibilities

➤ Software Development & Technical Ownership

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable and high-quality applications using PHP, Laravel, and Yii2.
• Develop new features, modules, APIs, and enhancements based on business and technical requirements.
• Analyze existing applications and implement improvements to functionality, performance, scalability, and maintainability.
• Write clean, efficient, reusable, and well-structured code following industry best practices.
• Debug complex technical issues and provide effective and long-term solutions.
• Take ownership of assigned projects and deliverables from development through deployment and maintenance.
• Integrate third-party APIs and services as required.
• Work with databases and optimize queries, application performance, and data access.

➤ Code Quality & Best Practices

• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and development best practices.
• Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, and application vulnerabilities.
• Implement appropriate design patterns, coding standards, and software engineering principles.
• Ensure applications are secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable.
• Write and maintain unit and integration tests where applicable.

➤ Team Collaboration & Technical Leadership

• Collaborate effectively with developers, QA engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to junior and mid-level developers.
• Participate in technical discussions, architecture decisions, and problem-solving sessions.
• Review technical requirements and provide estimates and recommendations for implementation.
• Help establish and improve development processes, coding standards, and best practices.

➤ Application Maintenance & Support

• Investigate and resolve production issues and critical software defects.
• Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
• Perform regular code and system improvements to ensure application stability.
• Support deployment, release, and maintenance activities.
• Ensure timely resolution of technical issues while minimizing business impact.

➤ Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

• Create and maintain clear technical documentation for applications, APIs, processes, and system architecture.
• Document technical solutions, configurations, and development procedures.
• Share technical knowledge and best practices with the development team.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering team.

➤ Learning & Continuous Improvement

• Stay updated with the latest developments in PHP, Laravel, Yii2, databases, APIs, security, and software development practices.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools where they can provide business or technical value.
• Continuously improve development processes, application quality, and team productivity.

Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 5+ years of professional software development experience, preferably with significant experience in PHP-based application development.
• Strong hands-on experience with PHP, Laravel, and Yii2 frameworks.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software design principles.
• Strong experience with MySQL or other relational databases, including query optimization.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
• Good understanding of Git and version control systems.
• Experience with debugging, performance optimization, and troubleshooting complex applications.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum.
• Knowledge of software design patterns, coding standards, security best practices, and scalable application architecture.
• Experience with testing methodologies and automated testing is an advantage.
• Experience with deployment processes, CI/CD, Linux environments, or cloud platforms is an advantage.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and make sound technical decisions.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to mentor and guide other developers.

Pay: AED7,000.00 - AED8,000.00 per month
