Job Description
Summary: Whirlpool Corporation is a home appliance manufacturer offering a 12-week Manufacturing Leadership Development Program Operations Track internship. The intern will support manufacturing projects involving lean manufacturing, quality, logistics, cost savings, scrap reduction, equipment relocation, testing, and change management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead scrap reduction initiatives, including project scope and timeline development, problem solving with suppliers, establishing standardized solutions and implementing changes
- Focus on cost-savings initiatives across a plant, including standardized work audits, improving first-pass yield and throughput, etc
- Manage equipment/resource relocation projects
- Design, develop, review, and conduct coordination for test programs or components, small systems or processes, or materials, taking into account customers, product performance, cost and quality requirements
- Lead change management with impacted team members
- Learn and apply Lean Manufacturing tools to project(s)
Required Qualifications:
- Majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Operations/Operations Management, or a related area
- Pursuing bachelor's degree with plans to graduate before or by May 2029
- Current cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher
- Must have indefinite US work authorization. Applicants who require visa sponsorship or work authorization now or in the future are not eligible for this program
- Must have access to reliable transportation and be geographically mobile
