Job Description
Financial Analyst, APAC Travel
Location: Melbourne, Australia
About the Role
We are seeking a proactive Commercial Analyst to serve as the strategic bridge between our Australian regional commercial teams and our Global Travel finance function. This is a high-impact role where you will go beyond "crunching numbers" to identify the "so-what" behind performance.
You will act as the primary finance partner for the APAC region, ensuring that the mechanics of commissions and rebates are flawless while delivering deep-dive insights that drive revenue growth.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Business Partnering
Act as the dedicated finance partner for Australian Sales and Commercial leadership.
Provide analysis on customer performance, mix, risks, and opportunities to drive regional strategy.
Evaluate new business profitability and update commercial offerings for existing clients.
2. Commissions & Rebates Oversight
Manage the end-to-end regional commission process, ensuring accurate and timely calculations.
Partner with the Rebates Team to ensure all accruals and reconciliations align with active customer contracts.
Audit rebate structures to prevent leakage and improve margin transparency.
3. Insight, Risk & Opportunity (R&O)
Maintain a live "Risks and Opportunities" register for the region, feeding into the monthly global FP&A cycle.
Develop and maintain dashboards tracking regional KPIs and sales pipeline health.
Own the forecast and budget movements specifically for the APAC region.
4. Global Integration
Synchronize regional reporting with Global (UK) FP&A requirements.
Navigate time-zone differences effectively to ensure the AU Commercial team and UK Finance remain aligned.
Skills & Experience
Experience: 3–5 years in Commercial Analysis, FP&A, or Finance Business Partnering.
Education: Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics. CPA/CA/CIMA (part or full qualification) is highly regarded.
Technical Proficiency: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills are essential. Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Anaplan) and CRM data is preferred.
Financial Literacy: Strong understanding of P&L management, revenue recognition, and accrual accounting.
Communication: Ability to translate complex data into concise, actionable summaries for senior stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
Autonomous & Disciplined: As your direct manager is based in the UK, you must be comfortable managing your own workload, deadlines, and priorities.
Analytical Mindset: You enjoy the "detective work" of finance—identifying trends and finding the story hidden within the data.
Time-Zone Flexibility: To ensure successful collaboration with our UK HQ, you must be willing to work outside of standard 9-to-5 AEST hours (e.g., early mornings or late evenings) as required.
What We Offer
Autonomy: A unique opportunity to shape how finance supports a high-growth region.
Global Exposure: Direct visibility to senior leadership in the UK and membership in a global FP&A community.
Strategic Impact: A "seat at the table" where your insights directly influence commercial decision-making.
