Job Description
Summary: Werfen North America is a family-owned company specializing in diagnostics, particularly in Hemostasis and Acute Care. They are seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op to contribute to the development of medical diagnostic instruments, involving hands-on laboratory work and collaboration within project teams.
Responsibilities:
- Technical Design Reviews: Participate in a structured evaluation process used in engineering and product development to verify design requirements, identify potential issues, and facilitate collaboration among cross-functional teams
- Schematic Capture: Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. (Altium or DxDesigner). Understanding of basic circuit theory and ability to analyze simple circuits
- Prototype PCB Design and Test: Evaluate an early version of a printed circuit board (PCB) to validate its functionality and performance before mass production
- Test Equipment: Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes, function generators, logic analyzers and power supplies
- Simulation Tools: Exposure to circuit simulation software (e.g., SPICE, Multisim, LTspice)
- Electro-mechanical Systems Design and Controls: As an electrical engineer you will work with mechanical engineers to create and manage devices or systems that involve both electrical and mechanical components
- End of Co-Op Presentation: Provide a detailed summary of the assignments and projects you completed during your rotation, highlighting your specific responsibilities, technical contributions, and the outcomes achieved
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing B.S. in Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete
- Ability to multitask
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems methodically
- Clear verbal and written communication for reporting results and collaborating with team members
- Willingness to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- Careful and precise approach to technical tasks and documentation
- Laboratory equipment including oscilloscopes, data loggers, and logic analyzers
- Python and/or C programming for hardware control
- Data acquisition and processing
