Job Description
Summary: Werfen North America is a growing, family-owned company and a worldwide leader in specialized diagnostics. They are seeking a Fall co-op in Electrical Engineering to contribute to the development of medical diagnostic instruments through hands-on experience and collaboration with project teams.
Responsibilities:
- To perform entry level work of a routine nature requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of related tasks
- The co-op will be involved in the day-to-day activities of the team included aiding other departments as they relate to department projects
- We expect the co-op to gain an in-depth knowledge of the product and its associated processes, particularly the process activities in-which they will be directly involved
- The co-op will have opportunities to assist in nearly all aspects of the workflow
- Requires confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel tools
- Requires Enthusiasm, motivation, initiative and ability to work within an interactive and energetic workplace
- Review process procedures, change orders, equipment specifications, validation plans, and reports
- Performs research on technology, equipment and tooling to improve process quality, yield or cost
- Generates proposals based on research
- Assistance in creating, reviewing and maintaining department files
- Performs experiments, analyzes and interprets numerical data from experiments
- Summarizes findings by computer readouts, statistical summaries, graphs and other methods
- Develops and designs test fixtures
- Develops code to automate measurements and analysis
- Designs prototype circuits and PCBs
- Tests electro-mechanical systems
- Participates in technical design reviews
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field with a minimum of 2 college semesters complete
- Ability to multitask
- Requires confidence in using Microsoft Word and Excel tools
- Requires Enthusiasm, motivation, initiative and ability to work within an interactive and energetic workplace
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with laboratory equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, data loggers, logic analyzers, and basic soldering skills
- Experience with basic board/cable troubleshooting and prototyping
- Experience with circuit simulations such as LTSpice
- Familiarity with basic hardware coding (C/Python/Verilog)
- Experience reading and creating technical drawings (PCBA/cables/fixtures)
- Experience with Altium/PADs or similar EDA software
