Job Description
Summary: Velair Property Management provides residential property management services focused on exceptional homes and resident service. The Maintenance Intern will gain hands-on experience maintaining residential properties by completing work orders, performing cleaning and preventative maintenance, assisting with building systems and equipment, and collaborating with maintenance and property management teams.
Responsibilities:
- Work Orders: Complete work orders at assigned Velair properties, responding to maintenance requests and repairs for resident apartments, buildings, and exterior grounds
- Property Maintenance: Maintain properties to Velair standards by performing daily cleaning, trash collection, and preventative maintenance
- Equipment & Systems Care: Assist with the care and service of building systems and equipment and familiarize yourself with operation and maintenance manuals for various facility equipment
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with the maintenance team, supervisors, and property managers to ensure the smooth operation of all property maintenance functions
- Adherence to Standards: Follow safety protocols, adhere to Fair Housing Laws, and perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Excellent customer service skills, effective communication abilities (both oral and written), and the ability to read and comprehend facility system drawings and maintenance manuals
- Knowledge of hand tools, portable power tools, and trade tools, as well as the ability to perform basic math for maintenance calculations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division)
- Must be willing and able to travel to various Velair properties within an assigned region, with daily work locations varying based on business needs
- A valid driver's license and insurance is required to travel between locations
- Ability to frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Ability to walk stairs, climb ladders, and regularly use maintenance equipment
- Frequent kneeling, bending, and crouching
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions
- Ability to work from ladders and elevated platforms and maintain balance while performing maintenance tasks
Preferred Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an applicable technical program or college-level program (two-year or four-year degree) such as Facilities, Building Maintenance, HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, Electrical, Engineering, or a related field preferred
