Job Description
Summary: WECC is responsible for the reliability and security of the bulk power system in the Western Interconnection. They are seeking a Reliability Engineer Intern to assist in identifying reliability trends and implementing improvements to data, processes, or tools.
Responsibilities:
- Working with WECC’s PI system to help gather and organize data points, apply a common naming convention, and help build processes and tools
- Working with other internal departments to gather external data sets, validate the data, and perform analysis to determine reliability trends about the operation of the Western Interconnection
- Helping evaluate WECC's planning cases to determine and implement any updates
Required Qualifications:
- Have completed your junior year of your bachelor's degree by May 18, 2026
- Are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in engineering
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Have a basic understanding of the power industry
- Are highly motivated and ready for challenges
- Possess strong computer literacy and proficiency using PCs, including a working knowledge of common applications such as those in the Microsoft Office Suite
- Understand and adhere to sound principles of cybersecurity, including protecting sensitive information, using secure passwords, and following organizational cybersecurity protocols
Preferred Qualifications:
- Candidates based in or near Salt Lake City, Utah, are preferred to accommodate occasional in-person meetings
