Reporting to the Manager – Project Construction, this is a key leadership role responsible for delivering major infrastructure projects within Watercare’s Capital Delivery portfolio.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will:
Lead the successful delivery of capital projects from construction through to completion
Provide strong project management leadership and technical expertise across complex programmes
Partner closely with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes
Oversee design, execution and closure phases in line with Watercare’s Project Management Framework
Contribute to feasibility and design phases, ensuring buildability, safety, and value are embedded early
Champion health, safety and wellbeing, ensuring safe delivery across all sites
Lead and mentor Project Managers, building capability within the Capital Delivery team
Drive continuous improvement and contribute to business-wide performance initiatives

Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you
You’re a seasoned project leader with a passion for delivering complex infrastructure projects and leading high-performing teams.
You will bring:
A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. Engineering or equivalent)
10+ years’ experience managing infrastructure or large-scale capital projects
Proven experience delivering projects across design and construction phases, including contractor and stakeholder management
Strong leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and develop others
Solid understanding of project management frameworks, financials, procurement, and reporting
Experience working with contractors, consultants, and public sector stakeholders
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong planning and analytical capability
Experience in water or wastewater infrastructure is advantageous but not essential.
