Summary: Washington Hospital Healthcare System is seeking a Patient Accounting Representative to manage patient financial information and ensure proper reimbursement for services. The role involves reviewing patient accounts, processing insurance claims, and securing payments from insurance companies and account guarantors. Responsibilities: - Review, Verifies, obtains and corrects comprehensive patient financial status, payer source information and other relevant information needed to determine the financial responsibility of all registrations to Washington Hospital - Based on this information, ensures that all appropriate financial sources and certification requirements are met to assure reimbursement for services provided - Responsible for timely filling of all insurance claims - Reviews patient accounts to ensure all payments and adjustments are made timely and appropriately - Monitors outstanding accounts, processes refunds for overpaid accounts, receives and answers billing related inquiries - Secures payments/arrangements from both insurance company as well as account guarantor Required Qualifications: - High School Graduate - Minimum one year experience in insurance billing and followup - Knowledge of ICD-10 terminology and CPT4 Procedure Coding - Minimum 1 year experience with electronic billing and follow up system as well as personal computer experience - Typing 25 WPM - Basic medical terminology Preferred Qualifications: - Knowledge of State Government regulations with regards to Medi-cal eligibility and application process - Private pay collection experience helpful - Cash and adjustment posting background preferred with regards to quality control of payments and transactions to financial system - Epic HER experience preferred - Knowledge of 10 key preferred Required Skills: Insurance billing, Insurance follow-up, ICD-10 terminology, CPT4 Procedure Coding, Medi-cal eligibility, Electronic billing systems, Epic EHR, Typing, Medical terminology
