StaffDataScientist –Decision Sciences
We are looking for aStaffData Scientistto joinDecision Sciencesteam. As a Staff Data Scientist, you will be responsible formodeling complex business problemsand discovering insights throughmachine learning, statistical modeling, simulation, and optimizationthatempowerourcustomersacrossWalmartto make data-driven decisions.You will drive data science partnership acrossUS, CostaRica,and India locations.You willbe taskedto set goals, create a strategy,and closely collaborate withDataAnalytics,DataEngineering,Data Governance teams and businessstakeholders to deliver best-in-classanalytical tools and solutions.
What You’ll Do
Identifying opportunities and business problems and framing them into advancedoptimization models (e.g. linear programming, mixed-integer programming).
Performing in-depth data exploration and analysis to uncover insights, trends and patterns that inform optimization strategies.
Developing and refine algorithms for process improvements, resource allocation and cost optimization.
Ensuring optimization and simulation models are scalable and robust for production deployment.
Developing dashboards and visualizations to communicate model performance and recommendations to stakeholders.
Staying current on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and new methodologies in optimization and simulation.
Collaboration: Working closely with data scientists,data engineers, software engineers, product, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Communication: Engaging in effective communication with business stakeholdersregarding model insightsand the strategic importance of advanced analytics.
Mentorship:Guidingand mentoringjunior associates on story types, structures, and techniques based on context.
What We’re Looking For
5+ years ofexperience inutilizingadvanced analyticsto solve business problems.
Demonstrated expertiseindeveloping advanceddata sciencemodels andleading data-driven projects fromconceptiontoimplementation, driving and influencing project roadmaps.
Expertise in mathematical modeling, linear programming, mixed-integer programming, constraint programming, or stochastic optimization.
Proficiency in programming languages like Python, Java, C, C++, with experience using optimization libraries (e.g., CPLEX,Gurobi).
Strong experience with simulation frameworks and techniques (e.g., Monto Carlo, discrete-event, agent-based simulation).
Solid understanding of statistical methods and machine learning concepts.
Proficient coding in one or more languages: Java, C++, Python, Spark, Scala, or R
Strongproficiency inSQLfordata manipulation and querying.
Proficient withdata warehouse likeBigQuery andcloud platforms (GCP, Azure).
Exceptionalanalytical and problem-solving skills,with the ability to think strategicallyand innovatively.
Excellentverbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technicalconceptsto diverse audiences.
Track record of successfullyinteracting with business stakeholders anddriving productiveconversations.
Experience mentoringjunior operations research or machine learning scientists.
