Job Description
Summary: Vilya is a computational biotechnology company focused on creating innovative medicines to target disease biology. They are seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to join their Compound Management team, where the intern will support R&D efforts and contribute to the advancement of drug development processes.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize your understanding of chemistry and materials science to support R&D efforts
- Automate standard workflows using Hamilton Vantage and Verso
- Weigh and prepare laboratory compounds for internal use
- Serve as an important liaison between chemistry and biology teams for compound transfer formatting and proper delivery for assays
- Contribute to the organization of the synthesis lab including upkeep of lab instrumentation, supplies, day-to-day operations and adherence to EH&S rules and regulations
- Follow basic Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with all members of the Vilya team
Required Qualifications:

- Ability to work onsite in our South San Francisco office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrollment in an undergraduate Chemistry or Biology degree program
- Recent graduates with a BS in chemistry or biology are also encouraged to apply
- Completion of undergraduate organic chemistry laboratory courses
- Broad range of experience in experimental support, techniques and execution (including knowledge of safety rules and procedures)
- Strong time management skills
- Knows how to be efficient in the laboratory, prioritize objectives, and record experiments in an electronic lab notebook in a timely manner
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and perceptive problem solving capabilities
- Interest in Automated Systems and Liquid Handlers
- Impeccable scientific integrity
- Scientific curiosity with positive attitude and an eagerness to learn
