Your Skills Are Bigger Than Holding the Dog. Come Use Them.
Feeling underutilized? If you want to be recognized for what you know, trusted to use your skills, and given opportunities to keep learning, Central Animal Hospital wants to meet you.
Our Petaluma hospital has four veterinarians, an experienced support team, and leadership that invests in the people doing the work. We’ve built a culture around clear communication, useful feedback, hands-on training, and teammates who genuinely support one another.
Why Our Veterinary Technicians Love It Here
We believe people do their best work when they have the tools, training, and trust to succeed.
Every teammate receives a personalized training binder, clear training levels, a dedicated trainer, and paid on-the-job training. Daily rounds keep everyone connected, while paid monthly team meetings and one-on-ones with our Practice Manager give employees a voice in how we work and grow.
That investment shows in our team longevity: our Lead RVT and Technician Supervisor has been here for more than eight years, our Lead CSR for 10 years, and our Practice Manager for 20 years. And yes, there’s room for fun—including the occasional midday dance party.
What Our Veterinary Technicians Do
- Collect blood and urine samples
- Assist veterinarians with examinations and patient restraint
- Take radiographs
- Monitor anesthesia
- Perform dental cleanings and oral radiographs
- Practice low-stress handling
- Communicate with clients
- Share your knowledge and help train teammates
If you want to learn something, tell us. If you’re great at something, we want you to use it.
What You’ll Bring
- At least two years of experience as a Veterinary Technician or RVT
- Confidence performing the technical responsibilities listed above
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Empathy for clients, patients, and coworkers
- A willingness to ask for help, offer help, learn, and teach
- Curiosity and a desire to keep growing
- A positive approach to contributing to hospital culture
- Tolerance for puppy kisses and kitty headbutts
The Extras You’ll Actually Feel
The little things matter, too. You’ll have free covered parking, a snack-stocked breakroom, occasional coffee runs, ice cream parties and meals, plus a hospital DoorDash account with no delivery fee.
Our team also occasionally gets together outside work for optional outings, which have included beach trips, pottery classes, and behind-the-scenes visits to the Academy of Sciences.
And when you’re off the clock, Petaluma gives you plenty to explore—from local restaurants and independent shops to nearby wine country and hiking.
