Job Description
Summary: Vercel is a company that provides developers with tools and cloud infrastructure for building a faster web. They are seeking a Staff Accountant to maintain accurate financial records and support the accounting close process as they prepare to operate as a public company.
Responsibilities:
- Support the monthly and quarterly close process, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timeliness of assigned areas, including preparing journal entries, performing reconciliations, and conducting flux analysis
- Responsible for accounting activities related to cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intangibles
- Provide detailed reports and analyses to internal stakeholders to support financial reporting and decision-making
- Assist in responding to audit requests. Ensure that all accounting practices comply with internal controls and external regulations
- Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and procedures to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Assist in the development and implementation of new accounting policies and practices
- Build and use AI agents to automate daily activities
- Support other special projects as they arise
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably Big 4 public accounting or high-growth company experience
- CPA or working towards CPA designation
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Hands-on, detail-oriented accountant with a strong sense of ownership and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Process-oriented and curious, with an interest in leveraging AI, automation, and systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
- Strong communicator, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced and evolving environment
