Summary: Veeam is the Data and AI Trust Company, specializing in helping organizations ensure their data and AI are fully understood, secured, and resilient. As a Software Intern in the Policy Engineering team, you will contribute to building a cloud data governance platform and develop internal tooling while gaining hands-on experience in a production engineering environment. Responsibilities: - Join the Policy Engineering team and contribute to building an enterprise-grade cloud data governance platform used by Fortune 500 clients to manage and protect sensitive data across complex, multi-cloud environments - Develop internal tooling, testing harnesses, and AI-assisted developer utilities that improve team productivity and engineering quality — owning small-to-medium scoped projects with real impact on day-to-day engineering workflows - Write backend code in Go within a large, production-grade codebase — learning established patterns and conventions under the guidance of senior engineers and tech leads - Build and maintain automated test suites and evaluation frameworks to validate system behavior, helping the team catch regressions and ensure correctness as the product evolves - Explore and prototype AI/LLM-powered tooling to assist with development workflows — such as automated test generation, code analysis utilities, or documentation assistants - Collaborate closely with senior engineers — attending design discussions, sprint planning, and code reviews as a participant, gaining exposure to how large-scale distributed systems are architected and delivered - Ramp up on modern backend and cloud engineering practices including distributed systems concepts, event-driven architecture, multi-tenant SaaS design, and cloud infrastructure Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - Must be able to exhibit prior use of AI tooling - Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; high-energy, motivated self-starter - Detail-oriented with a proactive, problem-solving mindset - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment - Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple moving pieces - This role requires you to be in office 5 days a week at the San Jose, California location - Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa now or in the future Required Skills: Go programming, Backend development, Automated test suites, Distributed systems, Event-driven architecture, Multi-tenant SaaS design, Cloud infrastructure Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Summer Benefits: Paid Company Holidays during your internship, Tech Stipend to help set up your workspace, 8 Hours of Paid Volunteer Time through our Veeam Cares Program, Personal and Professional Development through our Internship Program
