Job Description
Summary: Veeam is the Data and AI Trust Company, specializing in helping organizations ensure their data and AI are fully understood, secured, and resilient. As a Summer Intern, you will gain real-life work experience in software engineering and contribute to projects involving Cyber Security, Data Resilience, and AI.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in onboarding with the UR team that will set you up for success in your role
- Benefit from professional development sessions, networking, and social events provided by the Internship Program
- Write backend code and automation in Go within a large, production-grade codebase
- Learn established patterns for scalable infrastructure under the guidance of senior engineers, deploying and managing containerized applications across Kubernetes clusters and AWS infrastructure (EKS, ECR, IAM)
- Build long-running agents that unleash the full power of the Securiti AI + Veeam platforms for CISOs and security analysts
- Unlock automated breach impact analysis, compliance reporting, and data access auditing across hybrid multicloud environments
- Develop Agent Evaluation Pipelines to measurably assess reliability and task completion rates
- Build knowledge discovery pipelines that surface institutional knowledge (policy research, compliance frameworks) into agent-consumable layers for sharper decision-making
- Analyze Kubernetes deployment configurations to identify and fix security gaps
- Help manage the CVE lifecycle by identifying and patching vulnerabilities in container images to harden the platform
- Develop internal tooling, testing harnesses, and security utilities to improve team productivity
- Execute and validate API and cross-service integration tests to ensure system reliability as the platform evolves
Required Qualifications:
- Strong willingness to learn, innovate, and contribute to the intersection of Cyber Security, Data Resilience, and AI
- High level of comfort in a major programming language (Python, Go, or Java preferred)
- Understand core data structures, algorithms, and how to independently debug your own code
- Familiarity with Cyber & Data Security practices
- Foundational understanding of AI Agents, LLMs, and Agent Evaluations
- Experience with Kubernetes and containerization
- Basic knowledge of Git and GitHub for collaborative software development
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Development / Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cybersecurity, or other closely related fields
- This role requires you to be in office 2-3 days a week at the San Jose, California location
- Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa now or in the future
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Kubernetes/Helm and an understanding of the basics of CI/CD pipelines
- Exposure to event-driven systems (e.g., Redis Pub/Sub, NATS) and experience with workflow orchestration systems like Temporal
- Understanding or prior experience with GenAI concepts like RAG, Vector Databases, and Embeddings
- Usage of AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) and an understanding of how to develop, tune, and deploy AI/ML frameworks and Data Model pipelines
