Summary: Varda is a company focused on accelerating the development of commercial space infrastructure. They are seeking an Aerodynamics & Analysis Intern to support aerodynamic and aero-heating analysis for flight vehicles, contributing to simulations and wind tunnel activities to enhance vehicle capabilities. Responsibilities: - Run Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze vehicle performance - Support wind tunnel testing campaigns and post-processing of data - Collaborate with engineers to assess aerodynamic loads and thermal environments - Contribute to vehicle design improvements based on simulation and test data Required Qualifications: - Coursework in Compressible Fluid Mechanics - Coursework in Thermodynamics - Coursework in Numerical Methods - Programming in Python and/or MATLAB - Experience with running CFD tools - Experience using Linux-based systems - Programming in Python and/or MATLAB Preferred Qualifications: - Currently pursuing or completed a Master's degree in Aerodynamics or Numerical Methods - Experience running CFD or DSMC - Familiar with Tecplot and Pointwise - Some graduate school experience in aerodynamics or fluid mechanics - Some past experience on an aerodynamics or fluid mechanics project or club Required Skills: Computational Fluid Dynamics, Python, MATLAB Important Skills: Compressible Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Numerical Methods, Linux-based systems Nice-to-Have Skills: Tecplot, Pointwise, Aerodynamics project experience Internship Start Date: Start in 2026 Fall Benefits: Housing stipend for interns relocating to the area, Commuter benefit to support local transportation, Exciting team of professionals at the top of their field working by your side, Equity in a fully funded space startup with potential for significant growth (interns excluded), 401(k) matching (interns excluded), Unlimited PTO (interns excluded), Health insurance, including Vision and Dental, Lunch and snacks provided on site every day.
