Job Description
Summary: Vantage Data Centers powers and connects technology for major hyperscalers and cloud providers. They are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer Intern to support their global Cybersecurity team in designing and maintaining security controls while gaining hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering and risk management.
Responsibilities:
- Support analysis and initial triage of security alerts and incidents to help determine impact, severity, and potential root cause
- Assist with the deployment, configuration, and support of cybersecurity tools and technologies (e.g., endpoint protection, logging, vulnerability management, access controls)
- Support vulnerability management activities, including scanning coordination, documentation, and remediation tracking
- Contribute to the development and refinement of cybersecurity engineering documentation, including standards, procedures, diagrams, and job aids
- Assist with monitoring compliance to cybersecurity policies, standards, and frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO)
- Participate in post‑incident reviews and lessons‑learned activities to support continuous improvement
- Collaborate with IT, Cloud, Identity, Infrastructure, and Application teams to integrate security controls into enterprise systems
- Research emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and security technologies and document findings
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in, or recent graduate of, a degree program in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
- Demonstrated interest in cybersecurity engineering, security operations, or IT infrastructure security
- Fundamental understanding of cybersecurity concepts and networking principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document technical concepts clearly
- Travel required is expected to be up to 5% but may increase overtime as business evolves
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to security tools or concepts related to SIEM, endpoint protection, identity and access management (IAM), or cloud security
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST CSF, NIST SP 800‑53, NIST SP 800‑82, or ISO 27001
- Experience creating SOPs, job aids, or technical documentation
