Job Description
Summary: Vanderbilt Mortgage and Finance, Inc. is a national housing lender committed to making homeownership more attainable. The Reporting Analyst I develops reporting and analytic solutions to support decision-making and improve the customer experience through accurate and timely reports.
Responsibilities:
- Creates and produces visually appealing forecasts, reports, and ad hoc requests adjusting style, logic and data as needed
- Meets with internal customers to develop project scope for analytic and research requests; works with the team to support, prioritize and plan projects
- Works with various stakeholders to develop dashboards by leveraging centrally managed reporting tools, such as Tableau and Structured Query Language (SQL) Server Reporting Services
- Collects, aggregates, and analyzes data from multiple internal and external sources to drive insights into business performance
- Produces actionable reports that show key performance indicators, identify areas of improvement into current operations, and display root cause analysis of problems
- Ensures compliance with deliverable reporting requirements by performing quality data audits and analysis
- Consults with end users on self-service analytics including direct line support and training while providing a solid understanding of business needs
- Monitors latest trends in User Experience / User Interface (UX/UI) and developments in the economy to enhance analysis
- Assists with project requests for ad hoc reporting, queries, and self-service guidance
- Troubleshoots any issues that surface and works with appropriate teams to implement solutions
- Gathers and queries data for leadership
- Explores data needed for automated reports and dashboards to determine which fields are needed in the enterprise data warehouse
- Works with Data Engineers to get data normalized and ready for reporting
- Researches and analyzes data structure to understand how data comes together to produce needed data points
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required, preferably in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, or related field
- 0-2 years of related experience
- Must have working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, and basic visual design principles
- Strong Excel knowledge required including financial formulas and pivot tables
- Ability to understand query definitions and relational database structure
- Possess analytical skills as well as abstract reasoning, strong math, and experience with Tableau, SSRS, or SSMS is a plus
- Proficient understanding of business fundamental including accounting and finance
- Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently via phone, email, and person to person
- Must be able to multi-task, work independently and manage time effectively
- Great attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Tableau, SSRS, or SSMS is a plus
