Job Description
Summary: Urban Science is a leader in providing data-driven solutions for the automotive industry. They are seeking a Software Engineering Intern who will support software design and implementation, develop and test features for applications, and work within a team to create web applications that meet client needs.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and test new functionality, with general supervision regarding methodology and approach
- Work in a team environment to create and verify web applications, interfaces, and web services that meet and exceed customer’s needs and expectations
- Participate in application/solution design, code reviews and evaluation of the functionality against the client’s needs (user stories)
- Develop testing algorithms for validating functionality
- Create and review technical designs
- Participate in release planning by providing estimates and design input
- Support and continuously improve iterative software development processes and procedures
- Work towards target deadlines that are in accordance with the release dates
Required Qualifications:
- Demonstrate experience with software development and testing methodologies, in an internship, collegiate, or Capstone project
- Currently pursuing a Baccalaureate degree in an appropriate IT field such as Computer Science or Computer Engineering from an accredited U.S. college or university, equivalent foreign institution, or equivalent experience
- Ability to understand a situation by breaking it apart into smaller pieces, and/or tracing the implications of a situation in a step-by-step causal way
- Ability to analyze requirements to determine how applications function to build effective designs and tests
- Ability to learn and follow Urban Science's Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Ability to create and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues and/or customers
- Ability to work cooperatively with others and be part of a team
- Ability to develop business awareness and understanding of the business requirements of IT
- Ability to behave in a trustworthy and transparent manner
- Ability to monitor and check work deliverables ensuring high quality, accuracy and having a strong attention to detail
- Ability to compose and verbally deliver information of varying levels
- Ability to communicate ideas, facts and data in writing
- Ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple concurrent tasks and adapt to changing priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred familiarity with, or desire and ability to learn: Web languages and tools such as HTML, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript and Bootstrap
- Preferred familiarity with, or desire and ability to learn: Languages such as C#, MVC5, ASP.NET, WCF, and SQL
- Preferred familiarity with, or desire and ability to learn: Tools such as Visual Studio (VS), Azure DevOps
- Preferred familiarity with, or desire and ability to learn: Web service technology
- Preferred familiarity with, or desire and ability to learn: Unit, integration, and exploratory testing
- Microsoft certifications are a plus
