Job Description
The University of Tulsa College of Law seeks an Associate Director of Professional Development Office. This is a fast paced and dynamic position assisting the Director of Professional Development in the delivery of a comprehensive professional development program for students and alumni of the College of Law.
The Associate Director will be responsible for supporting the Director in all endeavors of the Professional Development Office, including: marketing law students and graduates in a broad spectrum of professional opportunities; planning and implementing educational programs; planning, counseling and assisting students with career and networking strategies; facilitating the Licensed Legal Intern and Mentoring programs at the direction of the Director; assisting in the on-campus and off-campus interviewing programs, including out of state interviews; assisting with compilation of statistical data as requested; community outreach; and providing excellent customer service to TU Law students and alumni. The Associate Director will also take on other responsibilities assigned by the Director.
Specific Responsibilities: • Provide career and professional development counseling to students, recent graduates and alumni. • Oversees the Licensed Legal Internship (LLI) Program, including acting as liaison to the Oklahoma Bar Association’s LLI Director and Committee, maintaining student monthly reports, arrange and attend as a witness to swearing-in ceremonies with the Oklahoma Court of Civil appeals, and administering bi-monthly LLI exams. • Responsible for multiple on-campus interview (OCI) programs annually, including employer outreach; job postings; managing interviews; etc. • Review, edit, and approve student resumes, cover letters, and other application documents submitted through 12Twenty throughout the year. • Oversees job fairs program memberships and advertising opportunities to students. • Responsible for coordinating reciprocity with other law schools. • Provide application document feedback to recent graduates and alumni. • Conduct mock interviews, facilitate the mock interview annual program. • Implements regular professional development programming to students during each semester. • Act as a liaison for the Federal Bar Association as well as other out of state bar associations. • Oversees several networking events for students throughout the year. • Student Advisory Board meetings and follow-up. Minimum Qualifications: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school; member of the Oklahoma Bar Association or willing to become a member. Preferred Qualifications: Three years legal practice experience and/or previous law school career services experience or experience in recruiting for legal employers; ability to develop and implement educational programs, excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills; superior interpersonal and oral presentation skills; word processing and technical skills; ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to do some weekend travel; ability to appreciate cultural diversity in communications with all groups associated with the University; dedication to providing excellent customer service for TU College of Law students and alumni; passionate about the TU College of Law mission; and desire for a fast-paced work environment while working with a variety of constituencies internal and external to the College of Law. Previous law school career services experience; previous management experience is preferred. Preferred Requirements: Experience working in a higher education environment; experience working with students in career planning, professional development or closely related field
