Job Description: Job Title: Senior Software Quality Engineer Location: Chennai Experience: 5–8+ Years Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Quality Engineer with strong expertise in test automation and a solid understanding of the software testing lifecycle. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in Playwright automation, along with good exposure to Selenium and JavaScript. This role requires a proactive individual who can ensure high-quality deliverables through effective UI, API, and database testing. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using Playwright Enhance and maintain existing automation frameworks using Selenium Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and define test strategies Perform functional, regression, and integration testing for web applications Execute UI testing to ensure application usability and performance Conduct API testing using Postman and/or Rest Assured Perform database validation using SQL queries Participate in all phases of the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) Identify, log, track, and manage defects through resolution Continuously improve test coverage and automation efficiency Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to best practices Required Skills & Qualifications Strong hands-on experience in Playwright automation Good experience with Selenium WebDriver Proficiency in JavaScript Solid understanding of Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) Strong experience in UI testing and web application testing Good knowledge of SQL for database validation Experience in API testing using Postman and/or Rest Assured Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills Preferred Qualifications Experience in CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, Azure DevOps) Knowledge of version control systems like Git Exposure to performance or security testing is a plus Soft Skills Strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and as part of a team Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Proactive mindset with a focus on quality and continuous improvement Employee Type: Permanent UPS is committed to providing a workplace free of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
