Position Overview

We are seeking a full-time, licensed Paralegal to join Unified LLP's Employment and Labour Group. This is a blended role: you will independently represent clients in matters within your licensed scope of practice, while also supporting our Employment lawyers on larger and more complex files. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable managing their own caseload alongside collaborative file work. This is a hybrid role based out of our Toronto office.

Key Responsibilities

• Independently represent clients in Small Claims Court, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and Employment Standards Act, 2000 claims, within your licensed scope of practice.
• Draft and prepare pleadings, applications, and other tribunal/court documents for matters under your carriage.
• Support Employment lawyers on larger or more complex files, including drafting correspondence, motion records, and briefs.
• Manage filing and document organization through Clio Manage and related software.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and tribunal/court staff in a professional and efficient manner.
• Track deadlines and ensure compliance with tribunal and court timelines.
• Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries as needed.
• Record billable time accurately and consistently.

Qualifications

• Licensed member of the Law Society of Ontario, paralegal class (P1), in good standing - required.
• Minimum 1 year of experience as a paralegal or Law Clerk in employment law, civil litigation, or tribunal advocacy.
• Working knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, 2000, Human Rights Code, and applicable tribunal rules and procedures.
• Comfortable appearing independently before tribunals and in Small Claims Court.
• Experience with Clio Manage, Microsoft 365, and Adobe Acrobat preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication and advocacy skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
• Team-oriented, reliable, and professional demeanor.
