Summary: UCLA Health is seeking a Research Assistant to join their Orthopedic Surgery Department. The role involves conducting experiments, maintaining the laboratory, and assisting with data processing and analysis related to orthopedic care.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct human muscle and small animal tissue experimentation
- Laboratory maintenance
- Specimen preparation including purifying DNA, protein and RNA from cells and tissues
- Assist in snRNA-sequencing data processing
- Data organization, management, and analysis from experiments
- Other research and lab duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Experience in cell culture protocols
- Ability to recognize and use technical terminology related to muscle anatomy and function
- Ability to use and maintain histological equipment
- Experience in data processing and analysis (R studio, statistics, etc.)
- Interpersonal skills to effectively interact with faculty, staff, and others
- Knowledge of computers including word processing, spreadsheets, graphic software, etc
- Ability to maintain accurate inventory of supplies and laboratory instruments
