Location: Lamesa, TX, United States
U.S. Silica is seeking a safety-focused Mobile Equipment Operator to join our team at our Lamesa, Texas plant. In this role, you will safely operate heavy mobile equipment to support daily mining and production operations. The ideal candidate is dependable, committed to safety, and enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor industrial environment.
Man camp accommodations are provided for qualified out-of-area employees.
- Safely operate heavy mobile equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, and other assigned equipment.
- Perform pre-operational inspections and complete required equipment checklists before each shift.
- Transport and move materials to support mining and production activities.
- Assist with site cleanup, housekeeping, and maintaining a safe work environment.
- Monitor equipment performance and promptly report mechanical issues or unsafe conditions.
- Follow all company safety policies, operating procedures, and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure efficient operations.
- Participate in safety meetings, training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work a rotating 12-hour shift schedule (7:00 AM–7:00 PM / 7:00 PM–7:00 AM) on a 7-on/7-off rotation.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a mining environment.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders, work from elevated platforms, and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Ability to use basic hand tools, including shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to obtain equipment operating certifications, if required.
Preferred
- Previous experience operating heavy equipment in a mining, construction, quarry, or industrial environment.
- Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) knowledge or experience.
- Forklift operating experience.
- Warehouse or material handling experience.
- Basic computer skills for completing inspections and production documentation.
