Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator
Location: Crane, TX, United States
U.S. Silica is seeking a Heavy Mobile Equipment Operator to join our team at our Crane, Texas facility. This position operates heavy mobile equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, backhoes, and forklifts, to support safe and efficient plant and material-handling operations.
This position works a 7-on/7-off rotating shift schedule, including both day and night shifts. Candidates must be comfortable working in an industrial environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
The ideal candidate is safety-focused, dependable, and committed to maintaining high standards for equipment operation, productivity, and environmental compliance.
- Safely operate heavy mobile equipment, including loaders, dozers, excavators, backhoes, and forklifts.
- Handle, load, move, and stage materials safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
- Follow equipment loading requirements, load charts, and established procedures for critical picks, as applicable.
- Conduct daily pre-operational equipment inspections and identify any maintenance or safety concerns.
- Perform routine daily equipment maintenance to help ensure safe and reliable operation.
- Maintain accurate daily logs of equipment usage, inspections, maintenance, and other required documentation.
- Identify, report, and assist in correcting hazards and unsafe conditions.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, operators, maintenance personnel, and other site employees.
- Follow all company health, safety, environmental, and operational policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Immediately report equipment malfunctions, damage, or unsafe operating conditions.
- Perform all duties in a manner that promotes the safety of employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work a 7-on/7-off rotating schedule, including day and night shifts.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and environmental compliance.
- Ability to follow instructions, operating procedures, and established safety requirements.
- Valid equipment operator certification or the ability to obtain required certification.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout all seasons.
- Ability to perform physical work, including climbing multiple levels using stairs and ladders and working from elevated platforms.
- Ability to safely use common hand tools, including shovels, hammers, and wrenches.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Preferred:
- Previous experience operating loaders, dozers, excavators, backhoes, and/or forklifts.
- Knowledge of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) regulations and safety practices.
- Forklift experience.
- Previous mining, plant, warehouse, or industrial experience.
- Basic computer skills.
