Intern Engineering Designer, Water at TYLin in Alexandria, VA

Summary: TYLin is a globally recognized infrastructure consulting firm committed to innovative designs for the global infrastructure market. They are seeking an intern to join their Alexandria office for the Summer of 2026, where the intern will assist engineers on various water infrastructure projects and gain hands-on experience in the field. Responsibilities: - Assist with the preparation of feasibility studies, functional plans, and preliminary detailed design for water and wastewater infrastructure projects - Assist with project monitoring and scheduling - Perform calculations and analysis - Assist in applying for and obtaining the necessary permits and approvals to proceed with construction - Collaborate with other engineers, drafters, and support staff - Attend site visits or inspections Required Qualifications: - Current 3rd year standing as an undergraduate in an accredited Civil Engineering program or related discipline - Experience with MS Word, Excel and engineering software - Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to efficiently prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously - Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear documentation and interacting professionally with clients and colleagues - Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while also able to effectively collaborate in a team environment - Strong commitment to integrity, consistently demonstrating ethical, fair, and responsible behavior - Commitment to innovation and continuous learning, with a passion for acquiring new skills and driving improvements Preferred Qualifications: - Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D and/or MicroStation experience - Experience with ArcGIS is an asset Required Skills: Civil Engineering, AutoCAD Important Skills: Civil 3D, MicroStation Nice-to-Have Skills: ArcGIS, MS Word, Excel Benefits: Extensive medical, disability and life insurance coverage, Continuing education benefits, Paid time off, Employee assistance program, Retirement savings plan with company matching contributions
