CMM Programmer/Operator (Aerospace Manufacturing)

About the Role
We're hiring a CMM Programmer/Operator to run dimensional inspection on aerospace-grade components using Coordinate Measuring Machines and PC-DMIS software. This is a hands-on precision measurement role at the core of our quality operation; you'll program CMM routines, inspect parts against tight tolerances, and verify conformance on tubes, tooling, fixtures, gears, and machined components.
What You'll Do
- Program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines (Hexagon CMM) using PC-DMIS/Quindos software
- Inspect tubes, tooling, fixtures, gears, and machined components for dimensional accuracy
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements
- Develop, edit, and maintain CMM inspection programs for new and existing parts
- Verify part conformance against engineering specifications and tight tolerances
- Document inspection results and maintain accurate, traceable quality records
- Support internal and customer audits and AS9100 compliance activities
- Investigate nonconformances and help drive corrective actions
- Communicate inspection results and quality concerns to engineering and production teams
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED (required); associate degree in a related technical field a plus
- 2–3 years of experience in Hexagon CMM operation, metrology, or quality inspection (aerospace/manufacturing environment preferred)
- Working knowledge of Hexagon CMM equipment and PC-DMIS/Quindos software, or willingness to learn quickly if not already experienced
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, indicators, height gages, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail with solid documentation and recordkeeping habits
- Basic math skills (fractions, decimals, ratios, tolerances) and ability to interpret statistical data
- Working knowledge of quality systems and standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for collaborating across teams
- ASQ CQT certification or Hexagon/PC-DMIS training a plus, but not required
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and pass periodic vision exams to ensure measurement accuracy. Work is performed in a combination of tool crib, inspection lab, and manufacturing floor environments.
