Job Description
Summary: Trust Automation is a company with over 30 years of experience in custom motors and systems. The Packaging Engineering Intern will design, develop, and test effective packaging solutions to ensure product safety during transport and storage, while also collaborating with various departments to streamline processes.
Responsibilities:
- Create innovative, functional packaging solutions for products, from design to production
- Conduct rigorous testing (shock, vibration, drop tests) to ensure package integrity and product safety
- Evaluate and select appropriate materials (plastics, paper, metal) based on cost, durability
- Develop cost-improvement strategies to reduce expenses while maintaining or enhancing quality
- Optimize packaging tools, processes and workflows to increase production efficiency
- Ensure packaging meets industry standards, regulations, and quality specifications
- Work with manufacturing, marketing, procurement, and vendors to streamline development and sourcing
Required Qualifications:
- Major coursework underway for a Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field
- Basic understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and machinery
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD)
- Ability to use mathematics and engineering principles to determine package dimensions and strength
- Capability to troubleshoot issues on production lines and improve existing designs
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must be willing and able to perform the job duties as assigned
- Must successfully pass a background check and all pre-employment requirements
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually
- Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator or assemble/manufacture intricate items
- Seeing to read a variety of materials
- Sitting or standing for extended period of time
- Physical agility to lift 20 pounds to shoulder height
- Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects
