The Packaging Engineering Intern will design, develop, and test effective packaging solutions to ensure product safety during transport and storage, while also collaborating with various departments to streamline processes. Responsibilities: - Create innovative, functional packaging solutions for products, from design to production - Conduct rigorous testing (shock, vibration, drop tests) to ensure package integrity and product safety - Evaluate and select appropriate materials (plastics, paper, metal) based on cost, durability - Develop cost-improvement strategies to reduce expenses while maintaining or enhancing quality - Optimize packaging tools, processes and workflows to increase production efficiency - Ensure packaging meets industry standards, regulations, and quality specifications - Work with manufacturing, marketing, procurement, and vendors to streamline development and sourcing Required Qualifications: - Major coursework underway for a Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering or a related field - Basic understanding of packaging materials, manufacturing processes, and machinery - Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD) - Ability to use mathematics and engineering principles to determine package dimensions and strength - Capability to troubleshoot issues on production lines and improve existing designs - Must be authorized to work in the United States - Must be willing and able to perform the job duties as assigned - Must successfully pass a background check and all pre-employment requirements - Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually - Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator or assemble/manufacture intricate items - Seeing to read a variety of materials - Sitting or standing for extended period of time - Physical agility to lift 20 pounds to shoulder height - Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects Required Skills: Packaging Engineering, Packaging Materials, Manufacturing Processes, Packaging Machinery, CAD Software, SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, Mathematics, Engineering Principles
