Mercy Health Position Summary:

Under general supervision and according to established procedures, provides inhalation therapy designed to stabilize, prevent or remedy patient respiratory problems. In doing so, arranges and operates a variety of oxygen and other therapeutic gas and mist inhalation equipment in order to administer prescribed doses of medicinal gases and aerosolized drugs to patients. Checks equipment regularly for proper functioning and records data obtained during therapy in patient charts. Qualifications: High school or equivalent and completion post high school training at an approved School of Respiratory Therapy; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or eligible; ability to walk and stand for prolonged periods and to lift, pull, and carry portable respiratory therapy equipment weighing up to twenty pounds; ability to effectively utilize a computerized charting system.
