Job Description
Summary: Trelleborg Group is a world leader in engineered polymer solutions, and they are seeking a Material Laboratory Intern for an onsite summer internship. The intern will be responsible for standard laboratory testing and data compilation related to polymer testing, supporting customers in various market segments and collaborating with research and development colleagues.
Responsibilities:
- Test polymer material samples for the purpose of characterizing polymer’s physical and thermal properties specifically for chemical compatibility and/or Finite Elemental Analysis modeling
- Perform test requirements as defined in ASTM, customer, and other industry standard specifications
- Perform data analysis
- Follow procedures and perform duties in compliance with lab accreditation requirements (ISO17025)
- Remain free from any undue internal influence and external commercial, financial, or other pressures and influences that may adversely affect the quality of their work
- General upkeep of the laboratory
- Compliance with quality, safety, environmental, and customer mandated procedures
- Other duties as assigned by manager
Required Qualifications:
- Associates Degree in a scientific field (Physics, Engineering, Chemistry or similar OR Sophomore, Junior, or Senior student working towards a scientific degree
- Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Strong analytical, decision making, and problem solving skills required
- Technical writing skills required
- Strong understanding of scientific methods required
- Communication and problem solving skills are key
- Test polymer material samples for the purpose of characterizing polymer's physical and thermal properties specifically for chemical compatibility and/or Finite Elemental Analysis modeling

- This position requires the use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. Preferred Qualifications:
- Lab experience preferred
- Proficient in MS office preferred
- Experience with coding a plus
