The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $119,000 - $156,200. The salary offered will be based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills and qualifications.
Toyota Canada Inc. (TCI) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Toyota Product Planning Manager who will oversee Toyota-brand Cross-over vehicles, Sport-utility vehicles, and Trucks. This is a full-time opportunity reporting to the National Manager of Product Planning and leading 5 direct reports. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the vehicle planning cycle to ensure the necessary strategy and preparation are completed for successful product launches. This individual will be the subject matter expert on vehicle related marketplace intelligence with the ultimate goals of ensuring customer needs, sales objectives, and brand vision are realized.

What You’ll be Doing:
0-3 Years Before Vehicle Product Launch:
Lead vehicle product planning activities based upon key competitor and customer data analysis and internal/external feedback for current- and next-generation models
Collaborate with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and Toyota Motor North American (TMNA) to participate in robust lifecycle planning (grade structure management, special editions, powertrain additions or deletions, etc.) ensuring there is understanding, support, and feasibility of all vehicle requests for the Canadian marketplace
Responsible for brand management ensuring consistent equipment and grade strategies exist throughout vehicle line-up
Manage all required schedules for spec deadlines: Model Year changes, pre-launch planning, etc.
Apply the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” (PDCA) approach to all product actions implemented including model year changes and pre-launch vehicle strategies
For compliance vehicles, pull-ahead development of pricing, grade, and spec strategy prior to key development milestones, and keep TMC apprised of changes as regulations/customer demand/other factors change, to assist with achieving regulatory compliance (ZEV, GHG, etc.)
Provide quarterly updates to the Executive team on all the above
Marketplace Intelligence:
Monitor and evaluate competitor actions
Build product knowledge through activities such as competitor vehicle trades, walkarounds, and other information-sharing activities
Evaluate and communicate key selling advantages and disadvantages for the development of required counter strategies
Work with Business Optimization team to streamline processes and frequently used reports/dashboards to help monitor TCI’s vehicle performance in the marketplace, as well as key competitors
Cross-Functional Collaboration and Leadership:
Work in close collaboration with other Product Planning groups to ensure alignment of vehicle strategies and goals
Collaborates with other internal departments to ensure a holistic approach is incorporated into vehicle planning
Develop strategies and recommendations in conjunction with the Accessory department for model lifecycle planning (Special Editions, Extra Value Packages, etc.) to ensure sales sustainment of carryover models
Work with TMC & TMNA to ensure timely communication of information and milestones
Support the process of soliciting Dealer and Zone input on sales and Customer feedback regarding Toyota product offerings
Oversight and coordination of prototype fleet orders, repairs and bookings with Marketing, Accessory Development, and other departments
Offer timely guidance, coaching, feedback, and accountability to direct reports, promoting their learning, development, and successful project completion
People Management
Provide timely guidance, coaching, feedback, and accountability for direct reports to drive learning & development and successful project completion
Lead team members to foster collaboration, understanding, support & Kaizen (continuous improvement) resulting in work efficiencies
Empower the team to take initiative and proactively influence the business
What You’ll Bring:
University degree or College Diploma in Automotive Business, Engineering, Management etc. or relevant programs
6+ years of related automotive work experience – Product Planning, Sales Planning, Toyota University or relevant areas are an asset
Previous leadership or field experience is an asset
Solid knowledge of the Canadian automotive marketplace
Experienced in making proposals to Senior Management and building cross-functional consensus
Skillful in influencing, negotiating and consensus-building
Empowering leadership and mentoring skills
Strong communication, organizational and strategic thinking skills
Excellent multi-tasking skills
Proven ability to initiate & improve work processes to increase efficiencies
Excellent Microsoft Office computer skills, advanced Excel and PowerPoint an asset.
Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
Ability to travel within North America and Japan
