Do you enjoy working in a clean, organised environment and have a genuine care for animal wellbeing?
We're looking for a reliable and motivated Kennel Hand to join our team in Taumarunui. This is a part-time role working 2 hours per day, Monday to Friday (3:00pm - 5:00pm, can be flexible on start time if we found the right person), helping to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for the animals in our care.
About the Role
As a Kennel Hand, you will play an important role in supporting our veterinary team by ensuring kennel facilities are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, has a strong attention to detail, and enjoys working independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Cleaning and replacing bedding in animal cages and kennels
- Sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and maintaining kennel areas
- Cleaning benches, sinks, basins, ICU and isolation areas
- Maintaining outdoor kennel areas
- Handling laundry duties as required
- Disposing of rubbish and recycling safely
- Cleaning and replacing bowls, litter trays, and feeding equipment
- Reporting maintenance or repair requirements
- Following health and safety procedures and safe cleaning practices
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has cleaning experience (preferred but not essential)
- Is reliable, punctual, and trustworthy
- Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Can work independently and manage their time effectively
- Has good attention to detail
- Is comfortable using cleaning equipment and products
- Enjoys contributing to a team environment
