Job Title: Teaching Partner
Location: Tiny Tots Academy, Grand Cayman
Reports To: Senior Core Teacher or Core Teacher
Position Type: Full-Time
Job Purpose
The duties of a Teaching Partner include interacting with children, preparing snacks, teaching children about numbers, colours and shapes, helping them get dressed and changing their diapers when needed (if applicable). They also evaluate students' social development and physical well-being. A Teaching Partner should be prepared to take on the role of Core Teacher when needed. Works cooperatively with the lead teacher to discuss and aide in the implementation of daily plans in accordance with the current curriculum, incorporating the Cayman Islands Department of Education Framework. The goal is to contribute to the healthy mental and emotional development of the child so they can more easily acclimate in the next level of education.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Getting the classroom ready for lessons and clearing away afterwards so as to maintain a safe and clean environment
- Assisting Core Teacher in preparing the lesson materials and school equipment
- Helping pupils stay focused during class hours
- Identify barriers to learning and report to Core Teacher
- Supervising group activities, sports events and school outings
- Helping Core Teacher manage student behaviour
- Looking after children who are unwell or upset
- Providing a healthy and safe learning environment for children
- Helping teachers create lesson plans
- Working with small groups of students to enhance the learning process
Requirements
- Education/Experience: High School Diploma or relevant and some experience in childcare.
- Skills:
- Excellent understanding of child development principles and preschool educational methods.
- Familiarity with classroom safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Strong communication and instructional skills.
- Ability to mediate between children effectively.
- Calm, friendly, and reliable demeanor.
- Balance between a creative mind and practical acumen.
- Certifications: Must meet Tiny Tots Academy’s/Ministry of Education requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in using educational technology and software.
Working Conditions
- This position requires active engagement with young children and the ability to adapt to a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for meetings, training, or special events.
