Health Coach - Cornwall at Thrive Tribe in Truro, England, GB

Join us on our journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive! At Thrive Tribe we deliver award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that make people happier and healthier.

It’s a really exciting time to join us as we continue to deliver the Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) throughout Cornwall. We are looking for one or two passionate Health Coaches (or Diabetes Prevention Practitioners!) to join us on a casual contract basis as part of our bank team!

The purpose of a health coach is to improve lives, through empowering people to make effective long-term changes that halt or reverse the progression of Type 2 Diabetes. This is achieved through successfully delivering our quality programmes and providing evidence-based information, supporting individuals to improve their health, lose weight and ultimately lower their risk of developing diabetes.

We are seeking to provide county-wide coverage of this programme throughout Cornwall, therefore we’re looking for flexible practitioners who can deliver the service when referrals are high. Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. We don’t like to stick to a firm JD as we know from experience that things change throughout the lifetime of a role and it gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.

A typical day as a Health Coach might include:

• Delivering evidence-based interventions that focus on diet, nutrition, physical activity and behaviour change Facilitating group intervention sessions to support your clients in achieving their goals and cultivating a safe and positive environment.
• Promoting the Healthier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme internally and externally, and improving referral pathways between other services and partner organisations.
• Engaging in ongoing training relevant to your role, such as Behaviour Change Level 1 and 2 Working towards criteria and targets established within the National Diabetes Prevention Programmes (NDPP) quality assurance framework, including all Clinical Governance procedures
• Working with colleagues across all of our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments – we’re always looking to share knowledge and resources!
• Ensuring due consideration and adherence to our internal Thrive Tribe policies, including Information Governance, Safeguarding and Complaints procedures Helping us maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and using every opportunity to embed our values!

About you... More than anything, we are looking for a team player who puts their heart in to their work. We’ve got some core values that run through everything we do, and we’d love it if they resonate with you too!

• Be the change You like helping people. You’ll be working with those who need help the most, empowering them to make positive changes to thrive.
• Be effective You’re patient and can adapt under pressure. Always happy to make time for other people. And have a great attitude.
• Be happy You recognise the power of a smile. You value a fun, supportive workplace and want to come to work raring to go (check out our rating on Glassdoor).
• Be successful You are motivated and driven. Happy working solo or as part of a team, you love meeting targets. And will be given opportunities to contribute and develop your career.
• Be big-hearted  You want to make a difference. Working with a like-minded team of optimistic people, we want the same thing to do meaningful work and change lives.

We’re looking for someone who can combine health improvement knowledge with first class communication and motivational skills who ideally would be based around Redruth/Camborne/Truro/Bodmin/Helston..

If you have experience of delivering group-based interventions, and a real understanding of the impact personal characteristics and circumstances can have on health behaviours then we want to hear from you. Bonus points if you have a qualification in a health promotion related subject, such as nutrition, exercise, or health coaching!

We hire based on attitude over traditional skills and experience so if you don’t have all of the necessary experience but feel you are right for the job we would love to hear from you! Due to the nature of this role, we’re looking for someone who is seeking a varied and flexible working pattern including evenings and / or weekend work.

Perks... Every person makes Thrive Tribe the incredible place it is to work and play together, we’re unstoppable. Within our buzzing environment our talented people work hard but we ensure lots of fun is thrown in too! We offer you;

• Flexible working – we’re serious about life/work balance
• Access to Mental Health First Aid training, and other training courses
• Tailored health and wellbeing support such as access to life coaching Rewards portal offering discounts on shops, restaurants, and days out.
