Skills
Job Description
Join us on our journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive!
At Thrive Tribe, we deliver award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that make people happier and healthier.
Smokefree Island is a smoking cessation service, which supports residents to quit smoking, vaping or nicotine use through a flexible, free 12-week programme, combining behavioural support with Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT).
We’re looking for a people-focused Community Lead to join our team, supporting our colleagues working on the Isle of Wight.
As Community Lead, you'll lead a team of practitioners, helping them deliver evidence-based smoking cessation support that changes lives across the region.
Working closely with our Associate Director of Operations, you'll balance day-to-day operational leadership with longer-term service improvement. You'll use insight and performance data to identify opportunities, remove barriers and support your team to achieve consistently high performance.
Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. We don’t like to stick to a firm JD as we know from experience that things change throughout the lifetime of a role, and it gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.
A typical day as Community Lead might include:
1. Lead a Winning Team
Lead a high-performing team by creating an environment where people feel valued, supported, challenged and accountable for delivering the very best outcomes.
Set clear expectations, helping every practitioner understand what great looks like, how success is measured, and how they contribute to the wider service.
Coach and develop your team to build confidence, capability and consistently high performance, recognising success, addressing challenges early and supporting people to achieve their potential.
Foster a culture of openness, collaboration and continuous learning, where people feel empowered to share ideas, challenge constructively and improve together.
2. Drive Performance
Lead the operational delivery of the service across your locality, ensuring it consistently delivers against contractual objectives, local priorities and key performance indicators.
Use data, insight and local intelligence to identify opportunities, remove barriers and improve performance.
Maintain a close understanding of team and service performance, taking timely action to improve referrals, waiting times, quit dates and service user outcomes.
Work collaboratively with the wider Smokefree teams at Thrive Tribe and Associate Director of Operations, sharing learning, escalating risks early and contributing to solutions that strengthen performance across the Isle of Wight.
3. Deliver Outstanding Quality
Ensure every service user receives safe, evidence-based and person-centred smoking cessation support, delivered in line with national guidance and local service standards.
Create a culture where quality, professionalism and continuous improvement are embedded in everyday practice.
Maintain high standards of clinical governance, safeguarding, information governance and record keeping, taking prompt action to address concerns and manage risk appropriately.
Use audits, service user feedback, incidents and service insight to identify learning, share best practice and improve the quality and consistency of the service.
- Build Trusted Partnerships
Build and maintain strong relationships with GP practices, pharmacies, NHS partners, community organisations and other local stakeholders to increase referrals and improve access to the service.
Act as an ambassador for Smokefree Island, ensuring the service remains visible, responsive and trusted within the communities we serve.
Work with local partners to improve access for priority populations and reduce health inequalities.
Share knowledge and collaborate with colleagues across Thrive Tribe, recognising that the best outcomes are achieved through strong partnerships and collective working.
- Working as One Team
Work collaboratively with the wider Smokefree teams across Thrive Tribe, including the neighbouring Smokefree Hampshire Team and Head of Service, recognising that the best outcomes are achieved when we work as one team.
Share learning, experience and best practice, supporting colleagues and contributing to a consistent approach across the service.
Support the successful implementation of new initiatives, pathways and ways of working, helping your team embrace change positively and confidently.
Contribute to the ongoing development of Smokefree Island by identifying opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and the experience of the people we support.
About you…
More than anything, we're looking for someone who is passionate about helping people succeed. Whether that's the practitioners you lead, the partners you work with or the people who use our service, you'll care about making a positive difference every day. Our values underpin everything we do, and we'd love them to resonate with you too.
Be the change
You like helping people. You’ll be working with those who need help the most, empowering them to make positive changes to thrive.
Be effective
You’re patient and can adapt under pressure. Always happy to make time for other people and have a great attitude. You are an exceptional communicator and keen networker with experience of building lasting relationships.
Be happy
You recognise the power of a smile. You value a fun, supportive workplace and want to come to work raring to go (check out our rating on Glassdoor).
Be successful
You are motivated and driven. Happy working solo or as part of a team, you love generating ideas and implementing health improvement campaigns. You will be given opportunities to contribute and develop your career.
Be big-hearted
You want to make a difference. Working with a like-minded team of optimistic people, you want to engage in meaningful work and change lives.
To thrive in this role, you'll bring experience of leading people and delivering results, ideally within a health, wellbeing or public health setting. You'll be confident building relationships, using data to drive performance, and working collaboratively with partners to improve access and outcomes for the people we support.
You'll also understand health inequalities and the importance of reaching underserved communities, with a genuine commitment to delivering inclusive, person-centred services.
Experience of working with GP practices, Primary Care Networks (PCNs), pharmacies or wider healthcare systems would be an advantage, but it isn't essential.
More than anything, we're looking for someone with the right attitude. If you're a collaborative leader who is passionate about developing people, improving services and making a positive difference, we'd love to hear from you.
