Job Description
Summary: Thomson Reuters is a global company that provides trusted content and technology for professionals across various sectors. They are seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join the GST Browser engineering team, where the intern will help build and enhance Datadog dashboards, monitors, and alerts to improve visibility into API performance and service health.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain Datadog dashboards for latency, errors, throughput, and key API metrics
- Partner with engineers to improve log, metric, and trace instrumentation and support standardized observability practices
- Configure alerts, SLO indicators, and runbook‑ready monitors for GST Browser services
- Analyze telemetry to provide insights on API usage and effectiveness, complementing product analytics needs
- Document dashboards, alert logic, and best practices for future contributors
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or related field
- Basic understanding of REST APIs, logs/metrics, and performance concepts
- Familiarity with any programming language (C#, Java, JavaScript, Python)
- Interest in observability, APM tools, dashboards, and data‑driven engineering
- Curiosity, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to Datadog or similar tools (Grafana, New Relic, Prometheus)
- Experience with Git, basic scripting, or test automation frameworks
