Job Description
Summary: The University of Texas at Austin is a prestigious institution seeking a Software Engineer to advance and improve their internally developed systems. The role involves analyzing, designing, developing, implementing, documenting, and maintaining enterprise applications across all business areas of the Applied Research Laboratories.
Responsibilities:
- Develop performant, reliable, testable and maintainable code for business information systems
- Participating in all aspects of software development life cycle: including design, coding, code review, testing, bug fixing, and code/API documentation
- Collaborate with other software engineers and participate in stand ups and client meetings
- Research solutions to client questions about data, reports, applications and identified bugs
- Other related functions as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent degree
- One year of full-time programming experience or equivalent
- Experience must be both recent and relevant with the ability to demonstrate hands-on knowledge in systems design, analysis and coding
- Six months of programming experience developing reports using Information Builders' WebFOCUS software
- Six months of programming experience with Oracle APEX
- Six months of programming experience with in Oracle SQL
- Expertise in developing and maintaining business information systems like HR, Accounting, Purchasing, etc
- US Citizen
- Applicant selected will be subject to government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information at the level appropriate to the project requirements of the position
- Applicant must have a dynamic skill set, willing to work with new technologies, be highly organized, capable of planning and coordinating multiple tasks, be willing to accept and incorporate feedback, and managing their time
- This position will require attention to detail, effective problem solving, sound engineering judgment, and excellent communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and with sensitive and confidential information, maintain a professional demeanor, work as a team member without daily supervision, and effectively communicate with all groups of clients
- Applicant must be able to work under pressure and accept supervision with regular and punctual attendance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated knowledge of design, development, and testing of custom applications
- One or more years of experience developing applications and web pages using HTML5, CSS, Python and JavaScript
- One or more years of experience programming in SQL including writing database functions, procedures, and packages
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
