Job Description
Summary: The New York Times is dedicated to independent journalism and seeks a Full-Stack Engineering Intern to contribute to impactful product surfaces. The role involves writing high-quality code, collaborating on product direction, and working with various technologies to enhance user experience.
Responsibilities:
- Write high-quality code with best practices and design patterns in mind
- Work with current technologies including Go, Javascript, NodeJS/Express, React, GraphQL and CSS Modules
- Have a voice in the direction of our products
- Work at scale to help deliver our journalism to millions of users around the world
- Have the opportunity to work with all parts of the stack and contribute to broader architectural discussions
- Demonstrates support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a strong commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
Required Qualifications:
- You have at least 6 months of educational or professional experience with full stack engineering
Preferred Qualifications:
- You have 6 months+ of professional experience working with current web technologies
- You have familiarity with least one modern server-side programming language (e.g. Go, Java, Kotlin, Python, Scala)
- You have experience working in a highly collaborative environment with peers from different backgrounds and skill sets
- You enjoy finding creative solutions to technical challenges and appreciate the balance between strong convictions and a pragmatic approach
