PRESS BRAKE OPERATOR

Job Summary

Programs and operates CNC or manual Press Brake and adjust the back stops to create multiple identical parts in large quantities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Uses calibrated measuring tools to verify products are made to the drawing and within tolerances to ensure conformance with customer’s specifications
• Monitors operation of the Press Brake, detects faulty operation of equipment or defective materials, troubleshoots issues and notifies supervisor if assistance is required
• Stacks parts in such a manner that they can be easily and safely moved to the next step on the job traveler
• Operates hand and power tools as needed

• May load/unload, lift, and move material.
• May be trained to act as forklift operator to assist with material movement.

• Performs maintenance when required

• Following instructions based on work instructions.

• Comply with company policies and legal guidelines.
• Help maintain a safe and orderly environment of the facilities.
• Performs any other duties assigned by management.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Ability to make basic mathematical calculations related to daily job functions.
• Part inspection skills

• Reads work orders to determine setup specifications and instructions
• Starts machines and makes trial runs to verify accuracy of machine setups
• Loads, observes and monitors machine operations to detect malfunctions and determine adjustments if needed
• Maintains records of daily production, using specified forms
• Performs routine adjustments during the press run and maintains quality throughout the job

• Self-motivative and attention to details
• Available to work a flexible schedule that may include some nights and weekends.
• Able to work overtime as needed.

Education and Experience

• 2+ years experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and comprehend standard instructions, short correspondence; including safety, instructional and procedural manuals.

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods sitting.
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
• Occasionally lift, push, pull and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Work Environment:

The employee may be exposed to extreme hot or cold temperatures, and loud machinery or equipment.
