Summary: The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. They are seeking a Research Assistant I to provide laboratory and technical support for research projects, assisting senior staff in various laboratory activities.

Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory research activities including sample processing, assay execution, and data collection
- Conduct molecular and biochemical techniques such as Western blotting, RT PCR, ELISA, and immunohistochemistry
- Maintain accurate experimental records, data logs, and inventories in compliance with Good Laboratory Practices
- Perform data entry in a timely and accurate manner and assist with basic data organization and analysis
- Prepare reagents, buffers, and laboratory materials according to established protocols
- Maintain laboratory cleanliness, equipment organization, and supply inventory
- Assist with preparation of technical reports, summaries, figures, and protocol documentation
- Create and communicate detailed experimental observations to senior staff
- Support coordination of sample tracking between animal studies and laboratory analyses
- Participate in required training and safety programs related to laboratory research
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Minimum of 0-2 years' experience required
- Knowledge of standard laboratory techniques and workflows
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and standard operating procedures
- Good communication and analytical skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel for documentation and data entry
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative research team
- Experience with the following lab equipment: Orobos O2k, Western blot, JESS
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust background check
- Lifting: Requires lifting materials up to 25 lbs
- Ability to stand or sit at a computer or laboratory bench for prolonged periods

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with molecular biology or immunological assays is preferred
