Job Description
Summary: The Hartford is an insurance company committed to making a difference, and they are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Cloud Data Engineer to join their data team. This role involves designing, building, and maintaining data solutions in a cloud environment, focusing on turning raw data into meaningful insights.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in designing, building, and maintaining data pipelines in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Support the development of ETL/ELT processes to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources
- Work with Snowflake to load, transform, and manage structured and semi-structured data
- Optimize data storage, querying, and performance within Snowflake environments
- Collaborate with data analysts and business users to prepare datasets for visualization in Tableau
- Assist in creating and maintaining Tableau dashboards and reports to support business insights
- Monitor and troubleshoot data workflows to ensure performance, quality, and reliability
- Write and optimize SQL queries for data extraction and transformation
- Participate in data modeling and database design efforts
- Maintain documentation for data processes, systems, and workflows
- Stay current with emerging cloud and data engineering technologies
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field
- Basic understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala
- Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Understanding of data structures, data modeling, and ETL concepts
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to big data tools (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
- Internship or academic project experience in data engineering or cloud technologies
