Job Description
Summary: The Hartford is an insurance company committed to making a difference and helping others achieve their goals. They are seeking an Actuarial Analyst who will perform a variety of actuarial projects, including reserve reviews, price monitoring, and enhancing pricing tools.
Responsibilities:
- Complete reserve studies and advise management on reserve decisions
- Develop and maintain monitoring tools such as actual loss vs expectation
- Refine, enhance, and/or create rating and pricing tools
- Identify and analyze critical pricing and profitability benchmarks
- Analyze internal pricing results and competitor information when available
- Collaborate with Underwriting to help guide and monitor strategy
- Initiate and participate in the development of procedures to improve data quality
- Seek out innovative approaches and apply R/SQL skills to enhance existing processes
- Present analyses and recommendations to teammates and business partners to guide future decisions
Required Qualifications:
- Undergraduate or Graduate degree with a major in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Economics or related field of study
- Pursuing actuarial exams toward Associate/Fellowship designation
- Previous Property and Casualty Insurance Actuarial experience
- Very strong technical/analytical skills; High proficiency in Excel required and experience with R/SQL preferred
- General knowledge of Property and Casualty insurance operations
- Effective oral and written communications skills
- Independently motivated; constantly looks for areas to add value
- Teamwork skills including ability to effectively collaborate and work with individuals across various teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with R/SQL preferred
