The Fifth Avenue Hotel, an award-winning luxury destination, is seeking a Host (Bell / Door Person) to join our Guest Services team. Located in the heart of Manhattan, our hotel is a vibrant oasis featuring 149 beautifully appointed guest rooms, where exceptional service, striking design, world-class cuisine, and immersive cultural experiences come together to create something truly unforgettable.

Position Overview

As a Host (Bell / Door Person), you are the first and last impression of The Fifth Avenue Hotel. You will warmly welcome guests upon arrival, provide seamless assistance with luggage and transportation, and deliver thoughtful, anticipatory service throughout each guest’s stay. This role is integral to creating a gracious, polished, and memorable arrival and departure experience.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Arrival & Departure ExperienceWarmly greet guests at the hotel entrance with genuine hospitality and professionalismAssist guests with arrival and departure logistics, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experienceCoordinate transportation and support valet or car service arrangements as needed

Luggage Handling & Guest SupportLoad, unload, and transport luggage with care and efficiencyTag, store, and retrieve luggage accurately and securelyEscort guests to our reception desk, ensuring comfort and ease upon arrival

An OverviewProvide a thoughtful overview of hotel amenities, and servicesAnticipate guest needs and offer assistance proactively

Guest Services & DeliveriesDeliver packages, amenities, and requested items to guest rooms promptly and discreetlyAssist with room changes and special requests with attention to detail

Operational SupportMaintain organization and cleanliness of the guest entrance and luggage storage areasStock and support operational needs when necessary

Local Knowledge & Guest EngagementMaintain familiarity with local attractions, transportation options, and neighborhood highlightsKeep informational materials current and readily available for guests

Collaboration & Service ExcellencePartner closely with Front Office and Guest Services teams to ensure seamless service deliveryMaintain awareness of guest feedback and satisfaction metricsConsistently contribute to enhancing the overall guest experience

Safety & StandardsPractice safe work habits and follow all safety guidelinesAdhere to hotel standards, policies, and procedures

Additional ResponsibilitiesPerform other duties as requested by leadership in support of the team and guest experience

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrevious customer service experience required; luxury hospitality experience preferredStrong interpersonal and communication skills with a polished, professional presenceAbility to remain composed and service-focused in a fast-paced environment

Work Environment

Flexible schedule required, including weekends, holidays, and varied shiftsRole requires extended periods of standing, walking, bending, and reachingAbility to push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
