Summary: Texas Parks and Wildlife Department is dedicated to managing and conserving Texas's natural and cultural resources. They are seeking a Conservation Education Intern to gain hands-on experience in aquatic education, assist with resource organization, and perform data entry tasks while shadowing TPWD staff. Responsibilities: - Assist with updating and producing Conservation Education and Nature Tourism materials - Assist with compiling and analyzing Texas Waters volunteer opportunities - Assist with preparation and delivery of Texas Aquatic Science activities and textbook grant - Job shadow and site visits - Performs additional duties as assigned - Complies with Agency, Division and Department rules, regulations, and procedures Required Qualifications: - Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in an accredited college or university or recent graduate with a bachelor's degree or higher within the last 6 months - Minimum of 18 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university at time of application - Must have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 grade point scale or 'Pass' on a Pass/Fail system - Applicant must possess a valid State driver's license Preferred Qualifications: - Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in science, education, or related field with 90 completed semester credit hours from an accredited college or university - Experience (volunteer or paid work) working with youth or coordinating group activities - Interest in teaching K-12 education, environmental education, environmental sciences, or water resources Required Skills: Aquatic education, Environmental education, Data analysis Important Skills: Microsoft Office Suite, Teaching methods Nice-to-Have Skills: aquatic habitats, Communication, Project management Benefits: Generous paid time off, Group insurance, Retirement and pension, Frequent training and staff development opportunities, Longevity pay, Merit pay, Deferred compensation, Flexible benefit plans, 401K/457 retirement plans, Direct deposit, Staggered work hours, Employee Assistance Program, Return-to-Work Program, Health insurance is available on the 1st of the following month after a 60-day waiting period
