Job Description
Summary: Terran Orbital Corporation is a leading manufacturer of satellite products primarily serving the aerospace and defense industries. The Flight Software Engineering Intern will support improvements to software development tools, automation, and version-control environment, contributing to C++ flight software components and collaborating closely with Flight Software engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to C++ flight software components through small features, updates, or debugging tasks
- Assist with organizing and preparing software repositories
- Help configure and validate automated build and test pipelines
- Run test cases and troubleshoot basic pipeline, build, or scripting issues
- Write small scripts (Python/Bash) to automate routine engineering tasks
- Document processes, configurations, and tool changes
- Collaborate closely with Flight Software engineers during stand‑ups and code reviews
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Able to work full time, onsite in Irvine, CA for 8 – 12 weeks starting in June 2026 (no relocation stipend, must be local)
- Hands-on C++ programming experience (coursework or projects required)
- Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
- Experience with Python, Bash, or similar scripting languages
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
- U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitLab, GitHub Actions, or Jenkins
- Experience writing or debugging automation scripts
- Interest in DevOps, software tooling, or embedded/flight software
- Curiosity about aerospace systems and real-world software workflows
